Los Angeles has a lot of great neighborhoods, but Highland Park is a standout based on the wonderful array of shops, restaurants and bars that have opened there in such a short time. Located on the northeast side of LA, Highland Park is experiencing a major renaissance, recently donned the “greatest neighborhood in LA” by LA Weekly magazine. York Blvd serves as the main strip and over the past 5 years this stretch has developed into a hub for artists and hipsters alike, offering everything from vintage clothing stores, to adorable stationary shops and everything in between! And what really sets it apart from other LA neighborhoods, is it’s actually walkable!
Here are some of my favorite stops in Highland Park:
Cafe de Leche – Where everybody knows your name and they make a darn good latte! Cafe de Leche is home base for HP residents, even offering a “kid’s section” in back.
Hollywood Vintage – Here you’ll find an amazing selection of curated vintage clothing and gorgeous hats crafted by the shop’s owner.
Hermosillo – This cool, laid-back bar serves up gourmet style bar food alongside a delicious selection of wine and beer. The Highland Park Brewery is connected to this bar so make sure to enjoy some local brews.
Shorthand – A recent addition, this shop stocks an irresistable selection of paper goods, greeting cards, and beautiful pens and pencils, to dress up your desktop.
So if you’re living in Los Angeles or are visiting anytime soon, make sure to check out Highland Park, the “greatest neighborhood in LA!”
